- Your sales tax. This is the charge before tax, because the rate depends where you are.
- Whether the site scaled in pounds or tons. Check the ticket — a factor of 2,000 is an expensive mistake.
- Minimums, banded rates or a contract price for this customer. Those live in your pricing table, not in a calculator.

Use measured weight and agreed terms
Enter net disposal weight from the ticket and the allowance in the customer’s terms. This tool uses US short tons: one ton equals 2,000 pounds. It does not estimate weight from dumpster size or material volume. Check whether a source ticket uses pounds, metric tonnes or another unit before using its number.
Only excess above the allowance is billed. A load below the included weight creates zero weight overage; it does not create a credit. Weight and day charges are rounded separately to the nearest cent, then added. The initial values are a synthetic example, not a recommended rate or a local market price.

Treat the result as a subtotal
For a 3.25-ton load with 2 tons included and an $80 rate, the excess is 1.25 tons and the weight charge is $100. If a 9-day rental includes 7 days at $15 per extra day, the rental charge is $30. Together the two overages are $130.
This calculator excludes the base rental, disposal passthrough, tax, prohibited-item fees, minimum charges, deposits and credits. Enter the billable day counts from your agreement; the tool does not decide whether delivery and pickup dates are inclusive. For an exchange, use the collected container’s applicable terms rather than the replacement container’s new allowance.
What it won’t do
Your sales tax, whether the site scaled in pounds or tons, and any minimum, band or contract price. Those live in your terms, not in a calculator.
