Offline has to include the evidence
A route list that stays visible is only one part of offline operation. A driver also needs to record a stop, save the ticket photograph, reopen the app and understand which work has reached the office. If a photo disappears when a tab closes, the office has lost the evidence even if a green checkmark remains.
Smooth Hauling saves captures on the device before attempting delivery. Queued work and office-confirmed work use distinct words and status shapes. The driver can continue the route while events wait to sync. Browser storage is still local to that device: clearing site data, losing the phone or a device storage failure can remove unsynced work.

Test the dead zone before a real shift
Install and open the driver application while connected, load an assigned day, then disconnect. Complete a stop with a photo and ticket. Close and reopen the application before reconnecting. Confirm the capture remains and that the driver can distinguish pending delivery from a confirmed receipt. Initial setup and an uncached day require connectivity.
Reconnect and inspect the office record, then reconnect a second time to check for duplicates. Repeat with a slow upload and a failed request, not just a clean offline-to-online switch. Long-shift sessions, Spanish labels and photo storage deserve the same test on the phones the crew will actually use. Local automated tests do not replace that device check.
What it won’t do
Live truck positions need a signal. When there isn’t one you see the last known time, not a stale dot pretending to be current — and a phone that loses its storage before syncing has lost the capture with it.

- Leave unsynced device data intact until receipts are confirmed.
